In practice, the recommended baseline is to use Hafnium and TF-A from the corresponding/synchronized release tags. That is the combination we validate routinely in our CI pipeline.
That said, Hafnium and TF-A tags should not be interpreted as a formal guarantee that only identical tags will work together, nor do we maintain a separate published compatibility matrix for all mix-and-match combinations. A non-matching pair may still work, but this depends on the specific FF-A/SPMD/SPMC features involved and on whether the required changes landed in both projects at compatible points in time.
Hence, for production or stable integration, our recommendation is to use matching release tags across the two projects. Hope that clarifies your question.
