Why are there to stripped.elf for optee_test_lib and optee_test_lib_dl TAs?

[PATCH 0/4] Introduction of a remoteproc tee to load signed firmware

This series proposes the implementation of a remoteproc tee driver to communicate with a TEE trusted application responsible for authenticating and loading the remoteproc firmware image in an Arm secure context. 1) Principle: The remoteproc tee driver provides services to communicate with the OP-TEE trusted application running on the Trusted Execution Context (TEE). HSM offline signing of TAs

I have recently commited some changes to the OP-TEE docs regarding the offline signing of TAs. I have now revisited my work after the holidays and the signing process is now failing with ERROR:sign_encrypt.py:Verification failed, ignoring given signature. although I am sure not to have changed anything. There is no TA being producd anymore. I am currently not sure if I made a mistake and did not see this, although I think I should have realized that no TAs are produced successfully. I am currently a bit pressed for time and was hoping that someone could assist me with the signing process. In the previous version there was a header prepended to the file that is to be signed echo "0000: 3031300D 06096086 48016503 04020105 000420" | \ xxd -c 19 -r > /tmp/sighdr cat /tmp/sighdr $(base64 --decode digestfile) > /tmp/hashtosign This script did not work and I omitted it. Can someone tell me why this was needed in the first place or how I could fix this step? I tried fixing the step as follows echo "0000: 3031300D 06096086 48016503 04020105 000420" | \ xxd -c 19 -r > /tmp/sighdr base64 --decode digestfile > /tmp/digestfile cat /tmp/sighdr /tmp/digestfile > /tmp/hashtosign but the pkcs11-tool then complains that the signature is too long. Secure interrupt while sending direct response

Hi all, I'm testing FF-A notifications with OP-TEE and Hafnium. I'm using interrupts from the secure uart as a trigger to set a notification for the normal world. Sometimes when testing I run into: VERBOSE: Secure virtual interrupt not yet serviced by SP 8001. FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_RESP interrupted Hafnium then returns an FFA_ERROR (code -5) as a response to the FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_RESP OP-TEE was just exiting with. After some digging in the code I find a comment at the top of plat_ffa_is_direct_response_interrupted() https://git.trustedfirmware.org/hafnium/hafnium.git/tree/src/arch/aarch64/p… /* * A secure interrupt might trigger while the target SP is currently * running to send a direct response. SPMC would then inject virtual * interrupt to vCPU of target SP and resume it. * However, it is possible that the S-EL1 SP could have its interrupts * masked and hence might not handle the virtual interrupt before * sending direct response message. In such a scenario, SPMC must * return an error with code FFA_INTERRUPTED to inform the S-EL1 SP of * a pending interrupt and allow it to be handled before sending the * direct response. */ The specification doesn't mention this as a valid error code for FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_RESP. Is this something we can expect to be added to the specification or at least something OP-TEE has to be prepared to handle regardless? As far as I can tell there's no way of guaranteeing that Hafnium will not return this error for FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_RESP. Even if we were able to execute the smc instruction with secure interrupts unmasked, what if the interrupt is raised just after the smc instruction has been trapped in Hafnium? It is a bit inconvenient as it means saving the registers passed to the smc instruction to be able to restart the smc instruction with the same arguments. It seems we may need to redesign the exit procedure. It would be nice with an example of how an S-EL1 SP is supposed to exit with FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_RESP. Thoughts? Thanks, Jens

[PATCH v5] tee: Use iov_iter to better support shared buffer registration

Currently it's not possible to register kernel buffers with TEE which are allocated via vmalloc. Use iov_iter and associated helper functions to manage the page registration for all type of memories. [PATCH v9 0/6] introduce tee-based EFI Runtime Variable Service

This series introduces the tee based EFI Runtime Variable Service. The eMMC device is typically owned by the non-secure world(linux in this case). There is an existing solution utilizing eMMC RPMB partition for EFI Variables, it is implemented by interacting with OP-TEE, StandaloneMM(as EFI Variable Service Pseudo TA), eMMC driver and tee-supplicant. The last piece is the tee-based variable access driver to interact with OP-TEE and StandaloneMM. [GIT PULL] OP-TEE reserved system thread for 6.8

Hello arm-soc maintainers, Please pull these patches that enables SCMI with OP-TEE transport to to reserve a thread in the secure world to guarentee that requests will not have to wait for a thread to become available. [PATCH v3] Documentation: Destage TEE subsystem documentation

Add a separate documentation directory for TEE subsystem since it is a standalone subsystem which already offers devices consumed by multiple different subsystem drivers. Split overall TEE subsystem documentation modularly where: - The userspace API has been moved to Documentation/userspace-api/tee.rst. - The driver API has been moved to Documentation/driver-api/tee.rst. - The first module covers the overview of TEE subsystem. - The further modules are dedicated to different TEE implementations like: - OP-TEE - AMD-TEE - and so on for future TEE implementation support. optee: os: toolchains would include linux target macros likes __linux__

Hello I wonder why Optee OS would use a linux target toolchains but not a bare metal target(none os)? gcc-arm-10.3-2021.07-x86_64-aarch64-none-linux-gnu/bin/aarch64-none-linux-gnu-gcc -dM -E - < /dev/null|grep linux #define __linux 1 #define __gnu_linux__ 1 #define linux 1 #define __linux__ 1 That makes hard to share a header files between Linux kernel and Optee. We like to pass some structure in SHM, but optee don't have all those Linux types likes <linux/types.h>. If optee didn't choose the toolchains for the Linux, we could easily decide which part would use for Client Agent(Linux kernel) side or TEE OS side. Why we don't use bare metal toolchains ? Could secure monitor let op-tee handle secure interrupter?

Hello I was wondering whether the current op-tee os support this that secure monitor would trigger the op-tee to handle the native interrupter without forwarding it to the REE? If the answer is yes, could it lead to a dead lock when the linux kernel is holding a spinlock(usually irq is disabled in that CPU core) ? I didn't find much about how should we handle the secure interrupter from document, the general way seems to either forward it to REE or just don't use the secure interrupter at all. Let the REE handle the interrupter may not be a good idea, since the device could we should ack the interrupter in it, is protected by the trustzone, we need to switch CPU to secure mode to handle this tiny task. I wish I could know more solution about the interrupter here. Sincerely Randy

Our solution, a mobile application on encrypted SMS rails for CBDC-Retail transactions works without the internet. It is an inclusive, affordable and safe solution as it caters to both banked and unbanked users, works on smartphones and feature phones, remote as well as proximity payments and large as well as small-ticket transactions. In order to build an additional layer of security for our proposed application, we want to process some critical part of our application as TA in the TEE of the phone. For this, we want to understand OpTEE as on 2023, as the documentation seems quite old. In this context, may we request you to kindly let us know on: 1. [PATCH v2] tee: Use iov_iter to better support shared buffer registration

It is not possible to register buffers allocated with vmalloc. Use iov_iter and associated helper functions to manage the page registration for all type of memories. [PATCH v2] Documentation: Destage TEE subsystem documentation

Add a separate documentation directory for TEE subsystem since it is a standalone subsystem which already offers devices consumed by multiple different subsystem drivers. Split overall TEE subsystem documentation modularly where: - The userspace API has been moved to Documentation/userspace-api/tee.rst. - The driver API has been moved to Documentation/driver-api/tee.rst. - The first module covers the overview of TEE subsystem. - The further modules are dedicated to different TEE implementations like: - OP-TEE - AMD-TEE - and so on for future TEE implementation support. [PATCH] tee: Use iov_iter to better support shared buffer registration

[RFC PATCH] tee: tstee: Add initial Trusted Services TEE driver

The Trusted Services project provides a framework for developing and deploying device Root Of Trust services in FF-A Secure Partitions. The FF-A SPs are accessible through the FF-A driver, but this doesn't provide a user space interface. The goal of this TEE driver is to make Trusted Services SPs accessible for user space clients. All TS SPs have the same FF-A UUID, it identifies the RPC protocol used by TS. A TS SP can host one or more services, a service is identified by its service UUID. The same type of service cannot be present twice in the same SP. During SP boot each service in the SP gets assigned an interface ID, this is just a short ID to simplify message addressing. There is 1:1 mapping between TS SPs and TEE devices, i.e. a TEE device gets registered for each Trusted Services compatible FF-A device found on the FF-A bus. Opening the SP corresponds to opening the TEE dev and creating a TEE context. A TS SP hosts one or more services, opening a service corresponds to opening a session in the given tee_context. How to sign TAs with an HSM?

There is one thing I really don't understand about the offline signing process for TAs using an HSM: In the documentation (https://link.getmailspring.com/link/4CCC8610-79B9-4890-AF1F-7A0AA56F0C20@ge…) it says to generate a keypair with openssl and sign the TAs using the public key as ${TA_SIGN_KEY}. In point 4. the usage of an HSM is described, but since it is not possible to extract the private key from an HSM, I wonder how steps 3.-5. are even possible. Do you mix the previously generated RSA key with the one from the HSM? I cannot image that is as it should be. Can you please clarify this! Thank you

Currently supplicant dependent optee device enumeration only registers devices whenever tee-supplicant is invoked for the first time. But it forgets to remove devices when tee-supplicant daemon stops running and closes its context gracefully. Is it possible to sign a TA twice?

I am currently trying to sing a few TAs using the Yocto environment, namely The three in-tree TAs shipped with optee-os oemcrypto needed for widevine For some reason I can't sign oemcrypto successfully using the offline singing method described in the documentation. I could however successfully exchange the default_ta.pem successfully to accomplish the above. optee-os is then built with the exchanged default private key and the oemcrypto recipe pulls this key as dependency. This is not optimal though, since we want to use an HSM for offline signing to increase security. I am therefore suspecting that oemcrypto is somehow signed differently or that that the stripped.elf is somehow different. From what I have read, it should not matter though what you sign you TA with during the build. You can always create the digest, sign and stitch everything back together. For some reason this does not work. If I sideload the oemcrypto TA that was built by exchanging the default_ta.pem file, everything works again. Do you have an idea what is happening here?

[PATCH v10 0/5] introduce tee-based EFI Runtime Variable Service

This series introduces the tee-based EFI Runtime Variable Service. The eMMC device is typically owned by the non-secure world(linux in this case). There is an existing solution utilizing eMMC RPMB partition for EFI Variables, it is implemented by interacting with OP-TEE, StandaloneMM(as EFI Variable Service Pseudo TA), eMMC driver and tee-supplicant. The last piece is the tee-based variable access driver to interact with OP-TEE and StandaloneMM. This driver depends on the tee-supplicant. When the tee-supplicant stops, this driver needs to be unbound from user-space script or tool, relevant patch is posted[1]. HELP for OPTEE Application crash when wakeup from Hiberation

Hello All: I have new project for developping TEE in notebook. the system needs to support S4 (Hiberation/STD) in order to reduce the power consume. To make the design simplest, I follow the regular suspend flow as below: 1. the kernel implement suspend flow to freeze thread and store data in swap paritition. then enter into S3 mode 2. system wakeups by pressing poweron event, and boot into kernel as normal. and the TEE OS and Trusted firmware will initialize like in normal boot. Once kernel recover all context, I try to issue CA again, and it prompts the below error message. I know that the context of TEE-OS and TEE driver does not match new after system recovery... I wonder to know if there is way to cleanup TEE driver before entering into S4 to make CA work after wakeup . Thank you for your help . Best Regareds, Vincent Cui

[PATCH v3 0/2] tee: optee: Fixes for supplicant dependent enumeration

Currently supplicant dependent optee device enumeration only registers devices whenever tee-supplicant is invoked for the first time. But it forgets to remove devices when tee-supplicant daemon stops running and closes its context gracefully. This leads to following error for fTPM driver during reboot/shutdown: [ 73.466791] tpm tpm0: ftpm_tee_tpm_op_send: SUBMIT_COMMAND invoke error: 0xffff3024 Fix this by separating supplicant dependent devices so that the user-space service can detach supplicant devices before closing the supplicant. While at it use the global system workqueue for OP-TEE bus scanning work rather than our own custom one. Changes in v3: - Split patch into 2 separate ones, one for supplicant fix and other for the workqueue. Changes in v2: - Use device names to separate out tee-supplicant dependent devices via this patch. - Since user-space service is aware about tee-supplicant lifespan, so allow the user-space service to unbind tee-supplicant dependent devices before killing the supplicant. [PATCH] Documentation: Destage TEE subsystem documentation

Add a separate documentation directory for TEE subsystem since it is a standalone subsystem which already offers devices consumed by multiple different subsystem drivers. Split overall TEE subsystem documentation modularly where the first module covers the overview of TEE subsystem itself along with generic features. Then the further modules are dedicated to different TEE implementations like: - OP-TEE - AMD-TEE - and so on for future TEE implementation support. [PATCH] optee: add page list to kernel private shared memory

Until now has kernel private shared memory allocated as dynamic shared memory (not from the static shared memory pool) been returned without a list of physical pages on allocations via RPC. To support allocations larger than one page add a list of physical pages for all allocations larger than one page. Allocate the memory with alloc_pages_exact() instead of alloc_pages() for more efficient memory usage. [PATCH v1] core: tee_svc.c: allow to pass non-NULL memref of size 0

When calling TEE_InvokeTACommand() with a non-NULL memref of size zero, function tee_svc_copy_param() will return TEE_ERROR_BAD_PARAMETERS resulting in a panic later on. In regard to the TEE_PARAM_TYPE_MEMREF_{INPUT,OUTPUT,INOUT} types, the Global Platform specification says [1]: params[i].memref.size SHALL be initialized with a memory buffer that is accessible with the access rights described in the type. The buffer can be NULL, in which case size SHALL be set to 0 . Note that the specification only specifies that NULL implies a size of zero. The reciprocal: "a size of zero implies NULL" is undefined. It is even more confusing considering that non-NULL buffer with a size of zero are explicitly allowed by the client API [2]: This design allows a non-NULL buffer with a size of 0 bytes to allow trivial integration with any implementations of the C library malloc, in which is valid to allocate a zero byte buffer and receive a non-NULL pointer which may not be de-referenced in return. This could become a pitfall if a TA forwards a memref received from the REE to another TA. Hi, On Tuesday, October 24 it's time for another LOC monthly meeting. Shyam is trying to get support for handling RPMB driver support within the kernel without a detour via tee-supplicant [2]. This is something we've talking about within the OP-TEE project too. [PATCH v2 1/2] tee: amdtee: use page_alloc_exact() for memory allocations

Use page_alloc_exact() to get buffers, instead of get_free_pages(), so as to avoid wastage of memory. Currently get_free_pages() is allocating at next order, while page_alloc_exact() will free the unused pages. [PATCH v11 0/4] tee: introduce TEE system sssion

This series introduces TEE system sessions for TEE service sessions that require TEE to provision resources to prevent deadlock when clients call the TEE. This deadlock situation can happen when a TEE service is used by low level system resources as for example when Linux kernel uses SCMI service embedded in TEE for clock, reset, regulator, etc... controls. [PATCH v8 0/5] introduce tee-based EFI Runtime Variable Service

This series introduces the tee based EFI Runtime Variable Service. The eMMC device is typically owned by the non-secure world(linux in this case). There is an existing solution utilizing eMMC RPMB partition for EFI Variables, it is implemented by interacting with OP-TEE, StandaloneMM(as EFI Variable Service Pseudo TA), eMMC driver and tee-supplicant. The last piece is the tee-based variable access driver to interact with OP-TEE and StandaloneMM. Changelog: v7 -> v8 Only patch #3 "efi: Add tee-based EFI variable driver" is updated. - fix typos - refactor error handling, direct return if applicable - use devm_add_action_or_reset() for closing of tee context/session - remove obvious comment v6 -> v7 Patch #1-#4 are not updated. [PATCH v2] tee: optee: Fix supplicant based device enumeration

Currently supplicant dependent optee device enumeration only registers devices whenever tee-supplicant is invoked for the first time. But it forgets to remove devices when tee-supplicant daemon stops running and closes its context gracefully. This leads to following error for fTPM driver during reboot/shutdown: [ 73.466791] tpm tpm0: ftpm_tee_tpm_op_send: SUBMIT_COMMAND invoke error: 0xffff3024 Fix this by separating supplicant dependent devices so that the user-space service can detach supplicant devices before closing the supplicant. While at it use the global system workqueue for OP-TEE bus scanning work rather than our own custom one. Preparing for OP-TEE 4.0.0

[BCC all OP-TEE maintainers] Hi OP-TEE maintainers & contributors, OP-TEE v4.0.0 is scheduled to be released on 2023-10-20. So, now is a good time to start testing the master branch on the various platforms and report/fix any bugs. The GitHub pull request for collecting Tested-by tags or any other comments is https://github.com/OP-TEE/optee_os/pull/6341. As usual, we will create a release candidate tag one week before the release date for final testing. Note that this is a major version update. We will be merging some pull requests that may break backward compatibility in some (limited) way just before creating the 4.0.0-rc1 tag.
