Just clarifying my email that the Slack workspace has people on it beyond Arm and Linaro as I invited them.

If Discord is the way to go I can cope with the cartoonish type interface. I would prefer though to be able to identify people I’m talking with and not allow usernames and profiles that makes them unidentifiable. That’s what I really disliked with IRC and some of the borderline anonymous abuse and lack of professionalism I saw there. Seems the TF.org Discord channel already has people on it that are unidentifiable.

You are correct Joanna.   So current status is the Discord Server is set up and we can invite folks.  I've just been attempting to get a commit on "next steps" myself.  Brought up in Board meeting and was planning to discuss w/ Dan H on whether we as a project want to make this happen.  :). It being there doesn't stop us from using our Slack channel, but Discord would be much easier to have multiple companies join...

Hi Glen/Don,

A comment on this.

  • Olivier - Slack channels, moving to Discord?
    • Glen to follow up with Don for details.
    • Follow up: Setting up Discord has been requested by the Board

as SLACK limits access to only ARM and Linaro; others cannot subscribe. Discord is more open. Don has set this up, but there has been no official decision to migrate off SLACK.

FYI you can invite people outside Arm/Linaro. I’ve invited people from NVIDIA, ST and AMD/Xilinx.

Maybe people cannot subscribe themselves and needs an invite from an existing member?

No problem migrating to Discord myself. As long as its manage and I don’t have to track multiple systems in my day to day work… 😊  At one point I had IRC, Skype, Teams, Yammer, Slack …. Now more or less down to Slack.

I’ve managed to put Discord into quiet mode to avoid all the animated emoticons. I just need to find the option to make them smaller. My impression of Discord is its like communicating in a cartoon script! Maybe its an age thing …. I remember learning to write with a fountain pen at school…. And a slide rule for maths….
